Deep space communications IBC show

Visitors and exhibitors to this year’s IBC Show will get a rare insight into the world of near and deep space communications on the Cornwall UK stand, showcasing the capabilities that are making Cornwall a key player in one of the world’s fastest growing space and aerospace clusters.

Exhibiting for the third year running, Cornwall UK will be joined by some of the English county’s leading space and aerospace companies, to showcase their initiatives and opportunities for broadcast and media within the sectors.

Spaceport Cornwall, the UK’s first horizontal space launch facility out of Cornwall Airport Newquay, will provide information for those looking to secure payload on satellite launches. Its recently announced partnership with Virgin Orbit, which has signed an MOU with Cornwall Council to launch satellites to space from 2021, is the first step in creating a satellite technology cluster of international importance.

Goonhilly Earth Station, the mission control centre for Spaceport and a leader in space communications capability, will be on hand to discuss the latest developments in deep space communications. Goonhilly plans to launch a private network with the European Space Agency to support commercial lunar and Mars missions.

Cornwall UK has also brought some of the county’s key businesses to IBC. This includes software specialists Bluefruit, which is delivering embedded software and IoT solutions, and Packet Ship, which is developing software solutions for next-generation TV. The global leader in unlocking the power of microwave, Flann Microwave, will also be there to discuss its involvement in a NASA space mission to map Earth’s water.

Cornwall is fast becoming the UK’s gateway to space, with companies across the region investing in research, development and innovation to propel Cornwall to new heights within the global space and aerospace cluster.

Cornwall UK will be exhibiting at the IBC Show in Amsterdam on 14-18 September in Hall 5, stand B48. Follow AeroSpace Cornwall on Twitter @AeroSpaceCornwl to get the latest updates live from the show.
